Autographs

Have you ever gotten someone's autograph?
Honestly, besides Gordon from Sesame Street (who I oh so excitedly met when I was three or four; hmmm. I wonder where that picture is!), and a few Disney World employees, I don't have any autographs.

But Saturday, I got a fun one!

Meeting Ysolda

Ysolda's class was very informative, and she is just as cute in person as she seems online.

I'm eager to use her tips to make another sweater, and hopefully, one that fits much better this time!

I'm especially enamored with Laika!

Speaking of knitting books, I'm destashing a few titles, in case anyone is interested. If you are, let me know!

So yeah, back to my question, do you have any autographs?

  1. Oh that's fun! Were you starstruck? I was lucky enough to go to a Food Network Convention and got Giada, Paula Deen, Bobby Flay and Alton Brown. I was totally like a teen at a Justin Bieber concert!

  2. I have this book also, and I love it!!! Hmm, autographs? Not of any crafty books I don't think. Well, one but it's a lamp working book from when I used to do that. I have a few sci-fi books autographed too. :)

  3. How fun!! Once upon a time a friend got me backstage at a Steve Tyrell concert and I got his autograph on a CD insert (and try to ignore that he spelled my name wrong)

  4. i don't. if i were confronted with a celebrity i'd probably be too scared to ask for his/her autograph. i did see James Brown once at a gas station in South Carolina. my friend had no idea who he was and i spent the next 30 minutes explaining it to her. "He's the Godfather of Soul. Papa's got a brand new bag? I feel good? It's a man's world? SERIOUSLY?" imagine blank stares.

  5. oh i have got a good one! you are going to love this... a few years after spencer and i got married we went to see jerry cantrell in concert... who is jerry cantrell you ask... alice in chains, ring a bell? he was awesome, excellent concert. he opened for nickelback, it still sickens me... while they were playing he came out and was walking through the crowd. we spotted him and went to talk with him. he was great, and i still remember my brother saying, "i have been a fan for years" i asked him if he would sign my shirt and he did... he signed my shirt around my right collar bone then proceeded to draw nipples on my boobs! it was hilarious! seriously, true story!

  6. Jealous! Although did you choose Ysolda over Yarn Harlot that day? :)

    I hadn't seen Laira yet...so pretty!

I think the only autograph I've gotten was Jane Goodall...which though I was a tad disappointed in meeting her, it's still so very cool.

  7. I actually have quite a few autographs, all musician and artists, but my favorite is from Michael Turner, a comic book illustrator who created my favorite comic books -- Witchblade and Fathom, and also worked on Superman/Batman, and various covers for DC Comics and Marvel Comics. He passed away in 08' and really was my hero growing up, so I treasure that I have a note from him and his autograph. :)

  8. Oh this is great! Sounds like it was a great class and I'm so glad you got to meet her! I have several: Ethan Hawke, The Refridgerator Perry (every kid in Chicagos dream when they won the Superbowl!, and then some less known authors. The only crafty one I have is from Bill Kerr and Weeks Ringle on Modern Quilt Workshop and Quilts made Modern. But my absolute favorite signed books are my Dad's - my shelf is lined with them and it makes me happy:)!

  9. Super cool! I'm glad the class was fun and useful. I don't have many autographs, but I do have a couple of signed books from Hannah Fettig. :)

  10. Hmm autographs... I have BBMak's (a random British pop group from the late 90s...oh teeny bopper days). In the knitting world, I have Nicky Epstein and Lily Chin thanks to Lion Brand Studio free events, Debbie Stoller thanks to Brooklyn Fiber Arts Guild event. But recently I got Stephanie Pearl McPhee to sign my copy of her new book at a speaking engagement!

  11. I'm curious to hear what you think of the book, especially the early sections on fit. I like a lot of her designs but the tech editing isn't always my favorite.
