Overprepared

I'm curious, when you go on a trip, do you overpack projects? Do you bring more WIPs than you could possibly need?
I do. I like to be prepared for whatever crafting mood might strike me.

Case in point:

To the Summit!

My pile of projects for the Sewing Summit.
And please keep in mind that I'm not checking any luggage. I travel pretty light, but I don't skimp on projects.

I'm actually sitting here, debating whether I should remove one (or, let's be honest, two) of these projects.

Pictured above, we have a new embroidery project, a Bottled Rainbows block (with a bag of scraps), some paper pieced hexagons in various green scraps, and the test knit-in-progress. I also may have cast on for a new knitting project which is not pictured.

So yes, I probably can safely remove at least one of these projects.

Dilemmas, dilemmas.

I will be sharing pictures over the weekend, and I hope you all have a great weekend, whatever your plans!
I promise to have a fun giveaway next week, okay?

  1. LOL, I usually overpack my stuff, not my projects! Love that pile. Have a great time!

  2. hmm. if it were me, i'd bring 2 projects at most--one that is mindless and one that takes more concentration. and then i'd probably end up not working on either of them.

then again, i get headaches if i try to craft while traveling (by car or plane) so that eliminates a lot of my possibilities.

  3. Haha! I'm bringing one ball of yarn in hopes someone will teach me to knit...

Oh, and a kickass CD with 73 songs on it.

    Do you leave tonight?

  6. Better to be over than under prepared, right? I have never completed the knitting I've brought on a trip, so I'm sure you could remove an item or two for your weekend, but if it fits, why not?

  7. That would be a definite YES from me. I usually don't leave the house without at least 2 projects, plus usually have 1 or 2 in my car for "emergencies." Yes, I have a problem. No, I don't want to fix it.

  8. I definitely over pack! I was good on our last trip and only brought two projects. It helped that we were going to be near a couple of yarn shops, just in case I needed more :)

  9. I always overpack! I bring enough projects to last me through a year. heh! Personally I don't think you can ever overpack, because sometimes it is nice to switch between projects.
Have a wonderful time, can't wait to see the pictures!

  10. YES, I overpack projects all the freaking time. This past week I brought 5 projects with me to work on, and bought yarn for 2 more, and ended up doing only a couple inches on one sock, and 4 rows on a shawl. So...I am in the same boat. :-P

Hope you're having (had?) fun at the sewing summit!
