And this + and x quilt, finished last fall, is a favorite example.
It all started with Badskirt's tutorial for the Japanese + and x block, as well as seeing Jessica's version at the Atlanta retreat.
So, back in November 2012, I started making blocks.
And more.
And more.
I received some orphan blocks from Val and Ambernoel, which I incorporated into the mix.
After finishing the top, I found a fun backing fabric in the new Lush Uptown line.
Those paint by number birds work so well with the scrappy front.
My only complaint? It's not big enough. Each block is 7.5" unfinished, and at 56 blocks, this quilt is approximately 49" x 56". Maybe there will be another in my future.
it's beautiful! i adore that red paint by numbers print. i want to make another x&+ quilt also. it's fun how everybody's quilt turns out so different.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!! And I love that paint-by-number fabric on the back, amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful. Don't you love scrappy? It comes out sew rich in color! That backing is amazing too.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is still really gorgeous. I have started my own (one or two blocks here and there), I hope it looks as nice as yours whenever it's done.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I need to do this with my scraps.
ReplyDeleteOh, you are so right about that backing! Bright red is great with scrappy and the print takes it up a notch. Glad you shared =)
ReplyDeleteoh I love it! My scrappy x and + is one of my very favorites!
ReplyDeleteThis makes my heart go all fluttery! Scrappy is totally best!!!
