The range of colors is immense, and the fabric has a lovely hand.
I felt a little overwhelmed when I was choosing colors, but I decided to go outside of my comfort zone. I started with Night-290 (which is less purple than the link), and promptly added Flamingo-338, Seafoam Green-301, Just Peachy-278, Cove-294, Denim-106, Arabian Nights-160, and Cinnamon-196.
I was in the mood for some half-square triangles (I used my favorite method. Using the leftover strips I cut to make the HSTs, I made a second simple pillow, which allowed for some free-motion quilting practice.
I really love how these pillows turned out, and they've made a nice addition to our bedroom window seat!
And we have a little giveaway, thanks to RJR Fabrics! You can win a fat quarter bundle of the eight solids I chose.
(and please make sure you leave an email address, if you are a no-reply commenter!) and tell me about your current patchwork obsession. I've been wanting to make a lone star quilt for about a year now; maybe someday soon!

These solids would make a great addition, I put other pieces of the fabric into different patterned scrap quilts, that I donate for charitable events. I need to build my stash and finish that charm quilt. djnortonrules@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI love fabric of all colors and designs, but you really need some solids in your stash to fill in with the prints

I've been on an English paper piecing kick lately. I really enjoyed making my last quilt top using EPP diamonds, so I decided to start on another similar project right away. I love the colors you chose for your bundle btw. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'm always all about HSTs. I've actually got an all Anna Maria Horner HST top up on the design wall. I have yet to sew the top together, but from the looks of it, I already know this quilt will rank up there as being one of my all-time favorite quilts I've sewn.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great color combo! And beautiful pillows!! I'm loving EPP lately since I'm not getting much sewing machine time these days. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the unusual color combo. Just shows that so many color schemes really do work. The HST design is great too. I would love some solid fabric-esp. this bundle. Thanks. Dian

ReplyDeleteSolids tie all things together or they're beautiful on their own. I love color! The more the better! Color makes the world wonderful and I would love to try the RJR Cotton Supreme Solids to color my world!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely colour combination. I'm working on a string quilt for my brother & his wife at the moment, and I guess you could call it an obsession in that it's all I'm sewing, but gosh I wish it would hurry up!
ReplyDeleteI am patching together a quilt (with my son's future mother-in-law) for the son and future DIL as a wedding present. I am doing 5 rows, she is doing 5 rows and then the two sections will meet. We are using teals, corals, grey and white per the bride's request. I have a SLEW of other things I am not working on so this can get done.
ReplyDeleteThese colors are "right up my alley". I tend to like the more pale tones when it comes to buying fabrics. I have a couple of projects going but would love to have these colors to start a new one. Fabrics are just wonderful -- no matter what the colors are! They are what "dreams" are made of. Nancy B. (nbowers@ellijay.com)
ReplyDeleteI really love your color selection. I have a hard time putting colors together without being boring. I also have a lone star quilt on my to do list. I have a son & his family in Texas. I love the projects done in all solids! vicki.gibson58@gmail.com
