My first block, nearly finished.
These blocks are pretty large, so four make a nice baby quilt top. I'm considering how I want to finish this, but I really enjoyed making these blocks.

Well, that happened again. I got the churndash block in my brain, and made block after block.
I started with a bundle that Holly created for Pink Castle Fabrics. You can see the starting bundle in this post. I went through the stash, and added lots of other prints for variety, but stuck to the color palette Holly chose.
Each block is 8.5" unfinished, and there are thirty-six blocks. I tried to make sure I varied the background color in each block, and tried many different color combinations within the blocks.
I found a coordinating coral sheet at Target, which I used for the back. I chose to quilt a grid, which surrounds each churndash center. For a little added interest, I also free-motion quilted a design in the center of blocks in one row and one column.
It finishes at 50" square.
And I love it.
I met an Indie twin! Yes, there I am in my Painted Portrait Blouse, with a lovely gal wearing the same fabric. Only at quilt market is this a non-embarrassing event!

Holy geez, guys. Sarah Watson is one of Art Gallery's newest designers, and she.is.awesomesauce. She's funny, completely adorable, and a genius! I am in love with both her new line, Luxe in Bloom, and her upcoming one. She won best new exhibitor as well, which is no surprise. I loved seeing her sketches!
I also loved her scrappy quilt, using every little bit of her Luxe in Bloom scraps.
Melody is so genuine and inspiring!
Her booth was perfection, and I loved the details she created. I have something else Melody-related to share with you soon!
As you can see, her booth was so comfortable. We ended up sitting and enjoying the view on our last day.
Okay, I feel like this post is definitely one of enabling, but seriously, Architextures. Seriously. It's an amazing line of fabric, Carolyn's debut, and her patterns are so freaking good.
I expect we will see more from Carolyn in the years to come!
I met Jacquie Gering! She was so sweet, and it was cool to see her amazing bridges quilt in person!
Here's Patty Sloniger's booth, for her new line, Les Amis. Ack! The woodland cuteness is too much.
I also bought some colorful vintage ribbon, met tons of amazing people, and felt like a tourist in my own town.
Since this is a pretty long post, I'll save the remaining photos/memories for a second one.

I've been thinking about this pile of fabrics, which I've pulled together for Round 3 of the Wonky Bee. The wonky girls have decided to do a traveling bee for this round, partially inspired by the Traveling Quilts group.
I think it will be lots of fun, and I've gotten to know these girls so well over the past few years!
I'm still not sure what my "plan" (I use that term loosely) will be for the quilt, but I know my fabric will be in good hands. I'm supposed to get the quilt started before passing it on to the first person, which is Amanda!
This will be a fairly relaxed bee, with two months for each portion of the quilt, and next fall, we'll all have finished quilt tops to share!
I've also been steady trimming these little half-square triangles. These are being made from Swoon and Which Way leftovers (both of which are still NOT FINISHED). I find it relaxing to trim up a pile every new and then, when I need a break from sewing.
I also used the last of a gift certificate (I tend to savor those gift certificates; this one was from Christmas!) during Pink Castle's labor day sale.
I got a few new text prints.
And this fun pile as well!
I'm working to finish up this plus pillow for my friend Rhonda today.
After that, who knows??

See that wire that is running over the stud (between the two hideous light fixtures)?
Yeah, that shouldn't be there.
An electrician came to fix that yesterday. And while we were at it, we asked him to take those fixtures away and we got a new ceiling-mounted one that will be installed once there is a ceiling again.
Here, you can see our newly painted hallway (asparagus!), with our new pipe.
Next week, drywall repairs will begin.
The very bright side is that since this was the association's decision, they will be paying for the repairs (except the electrician). And I am glad I was already off of work, so that neither of us had to keep taking vacation days to be here for repairs.
So. On to happier things, yes??
I have decided I need a x & + quilt of my own, after making blocks for Ara Jane in do.Good Stitches.
And of course, seeing Jessica's amazing quilt top on the retreat influenced me as well.
I've been enjoying the scrap bin these past few days (although I haven't gotten much sewing done, since I've been sick).

I just love those little white feet.
This one is simple patchwork, but the colors really sing! The background is Painter's Canvas, by Laura Gunn. The patchwork center is a Lecien print, and that's what inspired this color combination.
Next, I started this fun little piece, which Olias seems to like! The center is Tula Pink Meteor Shower, which I just love! I thought it paired nicely with Ellen Luckett-Baker's Quilt Blocks print. (P.S. Have you seen her new Kokka line sneak peeks??) Add a little Painter's Canvas, and some additional Tula Pink prints and voila!

I cannot get enough of Leah Duncan's Maya line. Summersville is another favorite. I think these two lines play nicely together!
It appears that I was also in a green mood in my recent stashing.
