Giveaway: handknits

Shawls are so much fun to knit. I love that you can get out your yarn, needles, and pattern; five minutes later, you're off to the races with a new project. No need to check for gauge, no need to do any preparations whatsoever. Just knit. It's freeing, and it's often my go-to project when I can't think about the details.
I'm sure you know how that goes. Sometimes, you just need to start crafting.

Why am I telling you this?
Well, the problem is, I don't really wear shawls. I've given several away to family members, but I still have quite the collection. And so, friends, I'd like to share with you.

My creation

I have picked out three shawls to share with my readers. I love each one, but knowing that they are being enjoyed and worn would make me a happy girl.

First up, my Starry Night Shawl, from Kate's Multnomah pattern. I knit most of this shawl while I was in Boston with my sister, two years ago.

Second, my aptly named Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine. This is the Traveling Woman pattern, another favorite. I knit this in February of last year, and named it after one of my favorite Spoon songs. I used Shibui Sock yarn, which I love (and have more of in the stash!)

Finally, Apple Ishbel is available. This was my third time to knit Ysolda's Ishbel pattern, which shows how much I love it. This pale green yarn is a very soft blend of alpaca, silk and cashmere.

I just realized this, but I'm sharing one shawl completed from 2009, 2010 and 2011. Neat!

So, to win, leave me a comment (one per person, please!) telling me about your favorite crafty project of the moment (either yours or someone else's). Also, please tell me which of these shawls is your favorite!

You can enter until Sunday night.
Good luck!
Three winners will be chosen early next week. International entries are welcome!

  2. That apple green yarn is gorgeous. I have a similar version in the laceweight. I have yet to risk knitting with it because I'm scared I'll waste it.

My favourite pattern at the moment is the Mitred Crosses For Japan blanket (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mitered-crosses-blanket--for-japan). Blankets are like shawls, they just need pattern, yarn and needles. I am addicted to blankets. Luckily I have friends who seem to keep having babies LOL

  3. I love the red one! (I've only been adventurous enough to knit a shawl twice in the many years I've been knitting.) I am currently loving the charity bee blocks I've been making.

  4. These are gorgeous! I hate to pick just one, but the Apple Ishbel is amazing! My favorite project at the moment is my quilt for my baby girl. I hope to start free-motion quilting it this weekend and *crossing fingers* hope to have it done next week. I am not sure how much longer before my baby girl is here!

  8. Oh, wow, these are all stunning! I've been on a shawl kick myself lately, but I'm worried I won't get them finished fast enough to wear this winter in my chilly office. Thanks so much for the generous giveaway!

  10. this is an amazing giveaway! the travelling woman shawl is my favourite, with starry night coming in a close second!

at the moment, my favourite crafty project is my TARDIS scarf, a lacy cabled beaded scarf that looks like the Doctor's (of Doctor Who) spaceship flying through space! Loving it didn't stop me from not being able to knit on it for three weeks, though...

  19. You are a rockstar and a generous one at that. I have firsthand knowledge of how wonderful your knits are and would love to own more of them. I think my favorite is the red, followed by the Apple Ishbel. But all are gorgeous. As for me, I can't shake the quilting bug, even though I have lots of other projects (some back to school clothes for the kids) that I really *should* be working on. Possibly my favorite current project is simply hoarding fabric. Is that so wrong?

All of the shawls are beautiful, but green is my color, so I guess it would be the Apple Ishbul. But I would love to win any of them. I really enjoy all your work! You are one talented woman!!!!

  29. I think I like the pale green one the most. They are all lovely, of course ;-) and your give-away is a great idea. (followed a link here on a rainy day from Chawne's site.) What great weather for knitting. Current crafy occupation? Cute dishcloths & socks. Using up yarn from the drawers, no new yarn!!!
