do.Good Stitches

I joined do.Good Stitches in January, 2011.

These were the first blocks I completed in the bee. I remember being a little daunted by these blocks at the time. I was new to quilting, still getting the hang of things like, seam allowances. I'm not sure that all of my blocks were good enough in those first few months. But I had fun, trying new techniques and block designs. I learned a lot and gained confidence. I made new friends in the sewing world. I found new sources of inspiration.

I made quilts. And in some small way, I contributed to others.

A quilt can represent comfort, warmth and maybe even home.

Favorites (quilts and such)

It's always hard to pick annual favorites, but I managed to do it.

After the Christmas craziness, I plan to do my list of non-sewing annual favorites, and also share a few end-of-year FOs.

Wishing you a peaceful end of 2013.

Wedding Shower pics

I finally sat down to pick out my favorite pictures from the wedding shower, given by my sister, mom and good friends. The party was fun, with lots of good fun, fun people and only one game. I'm not big on shower games. My friends really did an amazing job putting together a super fun day!

My creation

You can see all of these photos in my flickr photostream.

The center picture is the inside cover of the recipe book that they compiled for me. My friend Julie did all of the graphics and editing. It's such a special book, with lots of family/friend recipes to enjoy for years to come.

I also wanted to share the pillowcases my mom made for me.

My mom HAND-embroidered these beauties! She did an amazing job, and I just love them.

After the wedding, I'll be sure to share more pictures of the recipe book!

Days 1-10

Feb 1-10

We're halfway through February already! Geez. Time is flying crazy fast these days!

I thought I'd share a mosaic of days 1-10 in my month of crafty photos.

I must admit, I've been late in posting or taking some of these pictures. I'm enjoying the prompts, though. I enjoy looking through the flickr group, too.

Here's my favorite out-take, from day 7:

I heart Olias

Olias can only be this close to the yarn under my watchful eye.

For the Love of Solids

I joined another swap. I only have two monthly commitments on-going (do.Good Stitches and the Wonky Bee), and when I saw Sara joined in on this, I thought, why not?

For the Love of Solids
Please click through the photo for sources!

I'm hoping for a mini-quilt or a laptop cover, and some half-square triangles or other strong geometrics would really make me happy.

It should be a fun challenge to only use solids for this project, and I have plenty in the stash, thanks to the PCF Solids Club.

Friday Favorites and a few links

Friday Favorites
Please click the image to see photo credits

I was inspired by Sara to put together a few links and a favorite mosaic this morning.

I'm thinking of making this for dinner tonight.
I'd also love to try this delicious concoction.
I think Mr. Olias would look so dapper in this.
This other cat-related pin cracks me up!
An embroidered pillow case a la AMH is on my to-do list. I bought this exact fabric. I couldn't resist!
I LOVE this yellow quilt
I'd really like to get one of these for my desk at work

Happy Friday, peeps!
